The 2009 Tour de France Stage 5 rolled through France on a hot and steamy day, and in the end it was Thomas Voeckler who won the 196.5-kilometer (122-mile) race.

Voeckler stayed away for over 180 kilometers in a six man breakaway.

Fabian Cancellara stayed in yellow as all of the favorites, including Lance Armstrong, rolled to finish Stage 5 of the Tour de France together.
