fear2 ATS Fearless Predictions: Week of December 21st to December 27th 2009- The NY Giants keep they playoff hopes alive with a decisive victory over the Washington Redskins on Monday night. Expect a surprisingly impressive performance from the often exposed Giants defense, which holds the Skins offense to one TD.
Projection: NY Giants 27 Washington Redskins 16

- With the season ending injury to CB LarDarius Webb, look for the Baltimore Ravens to sign free agent CB Anwar Phillips. Phillips will mainly play in Nickel and Dime packages, as CB Frank Walker will assume a starting role in the secondary. The Phillips signing will be quick, as rumors of Chris McAlister coming back to Baltimore will begin to surface.

- Oregon State will defeat BYU in the Las Vegas Bowl on Tuesday night. Look for a huge effort in the desert from RB Jacquizz Rodgers – who’ll finish the game with over 200 yards rushing – 60 yards receiving – 3 TDs.

- Utah will defeat California in the Poinsettia Bowl on Wednesday evening. California’s offense won’t be explosive without RB Jahvid Best, and Utah’s QB Jordan Wynn will three TDs passes.
Projection: Utah Utes 34 California Bears 20

- Clemson’s RB CJ Spiller will go over 300 yards total offense on Sunday, as Clemson defeats Kentucky in the Music City Bowl. Spiller will rush for two TDs, score on a kickoff return, and catch a TD. A brilliant four TD performance for the Top RB in upcoming NFL draft.

- The best college basketball team in the country, Texas, will defeat Michigan State on Tuesday night. Texas will use balance scoring, with PF Dexter Pittman scoring 20, SF Damion James scoring 18, and PG Avery Bradley scoring 17, to easily beat the Spartans.

- The Drexel Dragons will defeat the previously undefeated Kentucky Wildcats on Monday night. Expect a huge effort from freshman SG Chris Fouch, who’ll score 26 points for the Dragons in this huge upset.

- Despite pleading from Jim Brown, it appears the decision to keep Head Coach Eric Mangini around will be up to Mike Holmgren, who’ll be named the new GM of the Cleveland Browns as early as Friday.

- Square Eddie will close in late stretch to capture the $250K Grade I Malibu Stakes at Santa Anita Park on Saturday. M One Rifle will complete the exacta with Misremembered taking third.

- Tennessee’s RB Chris Johnson will rush for over 200 yards and two TDs as the Titans will defeat the San Diego Chargers on Friday night. Johnson will break both Eric Dickerson’s single season rushing yards record and Marshall Faulk all-purpose yards record this season.

- Pittsburgh will keep their wildcard playoff hopes alive this Sunday with victory over the Baltimore Ravens. Expect the Pittsburgh defense to sack QB Joe Flacco six times, and score a defensive TD.
Projection: Baltimore Ravens 17 Pittsburgh Steelers 27

- The Indianapolis Colts will remain undefeated with a victory this Sunday over the NY Jets. MVP front runner QB Peyton Manning will throw 4 TDs in the victory.
Projection: NY Jets 10 Indianapolis Colts 31

- The Houston Texans will keep their wildcard playoff hopes alive, and probably keep their Head Coach’s job secure, with a victory at Miami this Sunday. Look for QB Matt Schaub to stay consistent with a 300 yard passing game with 2 TD passes.
Projection: Houston Texans 24 Miami Dolphins 21

- The St Louis Rams will keep their snug hold on the first overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft (The Rams probably have a “Suh” jersey ready) with a loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Arizona QB Kurt Warner will shred the Rams defense for four TDs.

- The amazing comeback of Jonathan Bender will come to its peak on Tuesday night versus the Chicago Bulls, as Bender will see more than 25 minutes, scoring 20 points. Bender, the 5th overall pick in the 1999 NBA draft, had been out of basketball since February 2006, due to severe knee pain. The New Knicks signed Bender last week.

- The New York Yankees will sign free agent pitcher Jason Marquis to a two-year contract this week. Marquis will serve as the Yankees #4 starter behind CC Sabathia, AJ Burnett, and Andy Pettitte.

- University of Houston QB Case Keenum will have a few weeks to rest his arm – from Saturday’s 75 pass attempt performance versus East Carolina. Though Keenum will probably throw often in Houston’s Armed Forces Bowl matchup with the Air Force Academy on New Year’s Eve – don’t expect Keenum to match those attempts ever again in his career.

- Young Cuban defector Aroldis Chapman will refuse the offer of $13 million for five year offered by the Florida Marlins. Chapman’s camp will hold out for more money. Chapman will likely end up getting about $18 million for five years.

- PGA Tour Player of the Year, Tiger Woods will be announced to be sitting down for an interview with media mogul and friend, Oprah Winfrey, as early as next week.
