- #6 Seed Philipp Petzschner will defeat unseeded wildcard Taylor Dent to win the Hall of Fame Campbell’s Tennis Championship on Sunday.

- Bob Baffert trained filly Indian Blessing will hold off a late running Game Face to take the Grade I $350K Princess Rooney Handicap on Saturday at Calder Race Course in Miami.

- Eaton’s Gift will upset heavily favorite Benny the Bull in Saturday’s Grade II $350K Smile Sprint Handicap, also raced at Calder Race Course.

- Ask Joe will capture the Grade II $200K Carry Back Stakes raced at Calder Race Course on Saturday.

- First Passage will defeat Underground and R Brown Sugar in the Grade III $200K Azalea Stakes, also raced at Calder.

- Giant Oak will capture the Grade II $300K American Derby on the Arlington Park Turf Course on Saturday.

- Bullsbay will narrowly outduel Parading to capture the $700K Grade I Hollywood Gold Cup on Saturday at Hollywood Park.

- Gio Ponti will win the $500K Grade I Man o’ War on Saturday at Belmont Park, sadly in that race though, veteran Dancing Forever will ease & pull up, ending the 6-year old’s racing career.

- Top Seeded Caroline Wozniacki will defeat #7 Seed Carla Suarez Navarro in the Finals of the Collector Swedish Open on Saturday.

- Kyle Busch will defend his title in the LifeLock.com 400 this Saturday at the Chicagoland Speedway. This will mark Busch’s first trip to victory lane since the May 2nd Russ Friedman 400.

- Bryce Molder will hold off defending champion Kenny Perry and US Open winner Lucas Glover to capture the trophy at the John Deere Classic played at TPC at Deere Run this weekend on the PGA tour.

- Nomar Garciaparra will hit a home run off Red Sox starter Tim Wakefield on Wednesday – it will be Garciaparra’s first home run in Fenway Park since July 10th 2004.

- The Milwaukee Brewers will add outfielder Alex Rios in the trade with the Toronto Blue Jays this week.

- Look for free agent starting pitcher Pedro Martinez to be signed by the end of the week – most likely by the Philadelphia Phillies.

- Willie McGinest will apply for reinstatement to the NFL this week, as the former All-Pro linebacker will attempt a comeback with his former team, the New England Patriots this season.

- The Cleveland Browns will release suspended WR Donte Stallworth this week. Don’t look for Stallworth to show up on any NFL roster anytime soon.

- Commissioner Roger Goodell will suspend WR Plaxico Burress for 8 games in 2009.

- GM Joe Dumars will announce Avery Johnson as the new Detroit Pistons head coach this week.

- GM David Kahn will announce former Knicks guard Mark Jackson as the new Minnesota Timberwolves head coach this week.

- PGA tour golfer Phil Mickelson will officially announce that he will not play the British Open this year, in the wake of the breast cancer conditions of his wife Amy, and now his mother Mary.

- Wednesday, Team USA Soccer will defeat Honduras at RFK Stadium by a score of 3-2 in World Cup Qualifying.

- World University Games Team USA will defeat Serbia on Tuesday 114-90, led by 25 points from Corey Fisher and 18 from Craig Brackens. Team USA will now next face either Latvia or Bulgaria.

- Shortly after the announcement of new head coach Avery Johnson, look for the Pistons to announce their plans to complete a deal for the Utah PF Carlos Boozer. The Pistons will send SG Richard Hamilton and PF Kwame Brown to the Jazz.

- The Dallas Mavericks will complete a deal with the Toronto Raptors in which the Mavericks will obtain SF Shawn Marion in exchange for SG Jerry Stackhouse. The Raptors will release Stackhouse almost immediately.

- Lance Armstrong will pull out of the Tour De France after Stage 7 due to a calf injury. The rumors of a failed drug test, might also encourage the early exit.

- Another Florida Gator football player will be arrested this week. (24 have been arrested in the last 4 years)

- USC Trojan Head Football Coach Pete Carroll will announce that Freshman Matt Barkley will be the starting QB when the Trojans open their season September 5th versus San Jose State.

- Nicole Castrale will win this week’s LPGA US Open by two strokes over Michelle Wie and Inbee Park. Morgan Pressel, Angela Stanford, and Suzann Pettersen will finish three strokes back.

- Prior to the completion of the LPGA US Open this week, look for LPGA Commissioner Carolyn Bivens to announce her resignation effective immediately.

- Lakers PG Jordan Farmer will take the chip lead in the World Series of Poker Main Event this week. Do you think the Lakers will allow Farmer personal leave for the Final Table November 7th to the 10th later this year?
