Oakland A’s -140 over Minnesota Twins:
A battle of rookies tonight in Oakland as the red hot Athletics host the Twins in the first of a four game set. Josh Outman goes for the A’s, while Anthony Swrzak takes the hill for the Twins.

Outman has been terrific thus far, going 3-0 with a 3.02 ERA in his rookie season. His last two efforts have been stellar, pitching 14 innings and allowing only 5 runs. The A’s are coming off a sweep of Baltimore in which their pitching was dominant, capped by a shutout on Sunday afternoon.

Anthony Swarzak is off to a 1-2 start with a 4.76 ERA for the Twins. He started off his career early last month and looked pretty good. His last start was awful, as he allowed 6 runs in just 4 innings pitched as the Indians pounded the Twins 10-1 last Wednesday.

Look for Oakland to keep their roll going tonight at home.

UNDER 8.5 Pittsburgh Pirates / Atlanta Braves:
Good pitching matchup tonight as the Braves host the Pirates. Kenshin Kawakami goes for Atlanta while Pittsburgh counters with their ace, Zach Duke,.

Kawakami got off to a rough start in his rookie season, but has looked much better of late. It doesn’t yet show in his record (3-6, 4.63) but in his last two outings he’s allowed 6 earned runs in 12 2/3 innings to lower his ERA. Atlanta won a big game yesterday, rallying to beat Milwaukee behind Chipper Jones 2 Homers.

Zach Duke has been nothing short of brilliant this year for the Pirates. The lefty is 6-4 with a 2.62 ERA and has been the ace for the Pirates, who sit 6.5 games back in the NL Central. The Pirates will get to see old friend Nate McLouth, who was traded to Atlanta in a controversial move last week.

Should be a low scoring affair tonight in Atlanta as these two begin a four game series.
