Offseason Analysis:
The Baltimore Ravens traded up to get Michael Oher, a tough tackle who can play the right or left side.
In the second round, they might have reached to take DE/LB Paul Kruger, who was the motor that the Ravens love. He has to bulk up play end in the 34. In the third round, the Ravens took a small but fast corner in Lardarius Webb, who started his career at Southern Miss before moving on to 1-AA Nicholls State.
They found a sleeper in Jason Phillips, a tackling machine who hurt his knee at the scouting combine. Phillips could eventually compete for a starting job. Davon Dew is a big tight end who is athletic, but more of a project than prospect, especially as a blocker. Cedric Peerman could be an outstanding third-down back and return man if he makes the team. He’s an ordained deacon.
Not a bad overall offseason for the Ravens, who ended up losing starting linebacker Bart Scott to the Jets and center Jason Brown to the Rams. They did sign veteran Matt Birk to replace Brown, so they may even get a slight upgrade there. But losing Scott hurts because they will have to replace him with a youngster. They also re-signed CB Samari Rolle and released CB Chris McAllister. They ended up signing Dom Foxworth to start in McAlister’s place, as Rolle or Fabian Washington will play nickel.
Chris Carr was also an underrated sigining because he can play corner and also return kicks, which was a problem for the Ravens last year.
