Bob Griese Suspended for One Week
ESPN’s Bob Griese has received a one-week suspension for a comment he made about NASCAR’s Juan Pablo Montoya.
ESPN spokesperson Josh Krulewitz states Griese won’t be working a game this week.
Krulewitz says ESPN has spoken with Bob Griese and “he understands the comment was inappropriate.”
During an ESPN broadcast of the Minnesota / Ohio State game this past Saturday, a promo was shown highlighting the top five NASCAR drivers. Chris Spielman asked where Montoya (who is from Columbia).
Griese replied he was “out having a taco.”
He has since apologized for the comment.
Montoya declined to comment on the matter. He brushed off the remark Sunday, and said he’d never heard of Griese.
