Federal agents have arrested a convicted murderer for providing the gun used to shoot and kill ex-NFL quarterback Steve McNair.
Thirty three year old Adrian J. Gilliam Jr. of LaVergne, Tennessee was arrested on Friday morning by ATF agents and faces a “felon in possession” charge.
A criminal complaint unsealed on Friday in Nashville reveals that Gilliam, who was convicted of second-degree murder and attempted armed robbery in 1993 in Florida, admitted he sold the gun to the woman who later shot McNair.
Gilliam is in custody in the federal courthouse in Nashville and will appear in front of U.S. Magistrate Judge Clifton Knowles at 4 p.m. ET. The U.S. Attorney’s office will ask that he be held without bond, a source told ESPN.com.
McNair was shot to death on July 4 at his condo by his 20-year-old mistress Sahel Kazemi, who then turned the gun on herself.
