Florida denies report Tebow to start vs. LSU
A Florida spokesman Friday denied a televised report that said Gators quarterback Tim Tebow would play Saturday night at LSU.
Orlando television WKMG, citing “team sources,” reported Tebow would “definitely” play, two weeks after suffering a concussion at Kentucky. The spokesman, Steve McClain, issued the denial shortly after the report.
Tebow has practiced with the Gators this week, but coach Urban Meyer insists Tebow’s status will be a game-time decision. The Orlando Sentinel reports that it received a text message Friday night from the father of backup QB John Brantley repeating Meyer’s line.
The newspaper also reports that it was told Tebow has been cleared medically to play.
