Atlanta Falcons receiver Harry Douglas will miss the 2009 NFL season after sustaining a knee injury.
Mike Smith said on Thursday that Douglas tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in a practice drill on Wednesday and will miss the entire season.
That leaves the Falcons a bit understaffed at the position as 2008 Pro Bowl receiver Roddy White is currently holding out for a new contract. Douglas had been filling in for White at training camp.
White and the Atlanta Falcons are apparently still not close to an agreement as far as contract negotiations are concerned, according to reports.
“I’m a little bit disappointed with the direction that the negotiations are going at this point,” Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff said Wednesday, according to the report. “It’s one of those situations where both parties are digging in and feel strongly about their case.”
