Offseason Analysis:
The New York Jets had just three picks but got what they wanted and that was a franchise quarterback with the selection of Mark Sanchez from USC.
The Jets traded three players and two picks to Cleveland to move up 12 spots. They also traded three more picks to Detroit to move up to get the 65th overall selection. Sanchez has all the tools including personality. The only thing he lacks is experience and will compete with Kellen Clemens for the starting spot.
They also traded to get Shonn Green, their third-round pick from Iowa. Greene was a very productive back who can run between the tackles (5-11, 227), but doesn’t possess the speed of an elite back (4.62 40). He also needs to improve his blitz pickup and as a receiver.
In the sixth round, they took Matt Slausen, a guard from Nebraska, who is a very good athlete but will need to get stronger. Overall, a strong offseason for the Jets and Rex Ryan. They raided Baltimore for LB Bart Scott, who will start on the inside in the 3-4 defense and SS Jim Leonhard-another starter.
Marques Douglas, another former Raven, is a veteran lineman who can play defensive end in the 3-4 or 4-3. They traded for Lito Sheppard, who will play opposite of Pro Bowler Darrelle Revis.
