Offseason Analysis:

The Seattle Seahawks walked away with what many feel was the top player in the draft in Aaron Curry, the outstanding linebacker from Wake Forest. He’s great against the run, can play in space, though he’s not noted as a pass rusher. In the second round, they grabbed Max Unger, an interior lineman, who can play anywhere on the line. To make that pick, they traded their third and fourth-round pick. That left them with four late picks.

In the sixth, they drafted a quarterback -Mike Teel-from Rutgers. Teel has good size and touch, but he’s also inconsistent. In the seventh round, they took another Rutgers player in safety Courtney Greene, a big hitter. They also took Nick Reed, a defensive end from Oregon, who is a pass rushing specialist. In their last pick, they chose Cameron Morrah, a good athlete, who can make plays downfield.

It’s a new era in Seattle as Jim Mora takes over for longtime head coach Mike Holmgren. There won’t be a ton of changes, though the biggest move for the Seahawks was signing WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh for $40 million. He gives them a legit number-one receiver and a great possession guy. On defense, they stocked up on defensive linemen, adding Colin Cole, a big run-stuffer from Green Bay.

They also signed Cory Redding, another defensive tackle, who came from Detroit in the Julian Peterson deal. In the secondary, they signed former Seahawk Ken Lucas, a big corner, who can help defend some of the bigger receivers in the division including Larry Fitzgerald.
