The Tennessee Titans will reportedly honor late QB Steve McNair with a number 9 decal they will don on the backsides of their helmets this season, according to an NFL source.
The Titans will being wearing the decal during Sunday’s Hall of Fame Game vs. the Buffalo Bills in Canton, Ohio.
The team did discuss the idea with the NFL and sought approval.
The Tennessee Titans are already wearing a special patch on their uniforms this season to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the American Football League (the Houston Oilers franchise was a charter member of the AFL) so another uniform patch was not possible.
Steve McNair was inducted into the team’s ring of honor at LP Field last season.
